A breakthrough in the collagen space, Rousselot presents Nextida GC® , a specific collagen peptide composition developed to deliver targeted metabolic health.
Nextida GC has been shown to naturally stimulate GLP-1 release and support glucose control—providing health benefits that go beyond collagen’s traditional structural roles (Grasset et al. 2024).
With its unique mechanism and science-backed results, Nextida GC starts a new chapter for manufacturers in the functional health and nutrition markets.

GLP-1: putting the brakes on the glucose rollercoaster

The incretin effect: the link between GLP-1, GIP and glucose control

Figure 1: GIP and GLP-1 are secreted by cells located in the intestine. Their combined function is key to maintaining healthy glucose levels after a meal.
A targeted bioactive collagen peptide composition
The ideal candidate to enhance GLP-1 effect

Murine STC-1 cells incubated for 2 hours with in vitro digested collagen peptide compositions at 10 mg.mL-1 (w/v) Grasset E, et al, 2024. https://doi.org/10.1002/fsn3.4538
Nextida GC was the best performing collagen peptide composition to enhance GLP-1 secretion in vitro
Figure 2: In vitro screening of a proprietary library of specific collagen peptide compositions for their ability to enhance natural GLP-1 secretion in murine, gastrointestinal enteroendocrine, STC-1 cells. All screened peptide compositions first underwent an in vitro digestive process to mimic human gastrointestinal digestion and maximize the bioavailability of the peptides.
Nextida GC: clinical evidence

Nextida GC slowed gastric emptying by over 37 minutes in prediabetic subjects
Nextida GC-induced priming of GLP-1 secretion linked to attenuated post-meal glucose spikes

Nextida GC: confirmation study findings
Nextida GC significantly boosted GLP-1 production

Nextida GC intake significantly increased GLP-1 secretion by approximately 52.8% vs placebo in vitro
Figure 4: Oral intake of 10-grams Nextida GC significantly increased GLP-1 levels in the blood of a healthy heterogeneous population (normoglycemic and with imbalanced glucose metabolism, i.e. prediabetic). *** p < 0.0001.
Nextida GC significantly enhanced and prolonged GLP-1 levels after meal

Nextida GC significantly increased GLP-1 levels by 82% vs placebo and led to higher GLP-1 levels up to 2 hrs post-meal
Figure 5: Oral intake of 10-grams Nextida GC significantly increased GLP-1 levels in the blood of a healthy heterogeneous population (normoglycemic and with imbalanced glucose metabolism, i.e. prediabetic) and maintained higher GLP-1 levels at all time points up to 2 h after the meal.

Nextida GC boosted GIP production

Nextida GC intake significantly increased GIP secretion by 70% vs placebo, potentially acting in synergy with other hormones such as GLP-1
Figure 6: Oral intake of 10-grams Nextida GC significantly increased GIP release in the blood of a healthy heterogeneous population (normoglycemic and with imbalanced glucose metabolism, i.e. prediabetic). *** p < 0.0001.
Nextida GC reduced post-meal glucose spikes

Nextida GC intake 30 minutes before a mixed meal significantly reduced post-meal glucose by 37% vs placebo
Figure 7: Oral intake of 10-grams Nextida GC significantly reduced the post-meal glucose spike in a healthy heterogeneous population (normoglycemic and with imbalanced glucose metabolism, i.e. prediabetic).
* p < 0.05, *** p < 0.0001.
Nextida GC improved insulin response through pre-meal priming

Nextida GC intake increased insulin secretion before the meal (priming effect), resulting in a significantly lower post-meal insulin response vs placebo
These findings indicate that oral supplementation with Nextida GC prepared the body to receive food by implementing a priming effect, where the body is readied for an incoming meal. This allowed the body to react more efficiently, lowering the post-meal spike without the need for further insulin production
Figure 8: A) Before the mixed meal, oral intake of 10-grams Nextida GC led to a small but significant increase in insulin production in a healthy heterogeneous population (normoglycemic and with imbalanced glucose metabolism, i.e. prediabetic). B) Post-meal, the insulin levels of normoglycemic and prediabetic individuals that took Nextida GC 30 min before the mixed meal were significantly lower than those of individuals that took the placebo.
*** p < 0.0001.
Nextida GC significantly slowed gastric emptying

Nextida GC intake significantly slowed down gastric emptying by 37.2 min vs placebo
Figure 9: Oral intake of 10-grams Nextida GC significantly slowed down gastric emptying in a population with imbalanced glucose metabolism (prediabetic).

A clinically studied ingredient for metabolic health:

As such, Nextida GC's specific collagen peptide composition could deliver multi-benefit support—from satiety and weight management to mood and stress response—through improved glycaemic control and reduced post-meal glucose spikes.
